If you have a valid ESA letter landlords are technically not allowed to insist that the therapist or doctor fill out additional forms anymore. You might find this article helpful: https://esadoctors.com/hud-housing-rules-emotional-support-animals/

My complex is trying to make me pay for the deposit because I haven’t had them sign it yet. But it’s a 5 hour trip. I have the original prescription letter from the Dr. Is that not enough by law?

That dog almost bite me so I got a different dog 2 months later and have had him for 3 years since he was 2 months old. Been living with me in his section 8 housing for 10 years. Landlord just said he has to go now after 3 years after receiving new updated disability verification papers but drs won’t sign service animal papers. They already have my first letter and I have their original acceptance letter of receiving my drs ESA and disability paperwork. Can they tell me he has to go after already turning in approved papers and having him for years?

There is another identical duplex across from us that he also owns and rents out. He also owns and rents the house behind the duplexes, as well as other properties in the area. He does not live in any of the duplex units or the house behind them. Would he be able to deny my ESA on grounds of the 4 units or less without a Real estate agent bullet point? The other family’s have pets, but he has informed me he does not wish to rent to any other pets. But my dog is not a pet. I have a letter from my mental health physician qualifying my dog as an ESA. Would him denying my dog be considered discrimination since the other tenants have animals?

Is this true? I found and rented my two bed, one bath duplex without an agent or third party involved. I have been given a letter so that I may live in my home with my dog as my ESA. Would my landlord be able to deny my dog on this base?
