In reply to Kristy. I have this same problem right now. My cat helps me to calm down when I have a panic attack or anxiety attack since I can hold her and pet her to calm down. The college I am looking to go to is making me jump through all these hoops to prove I need an ESA for my anxiety and depression since I am not yet on a medication to help me. As far as I know, they will not allow me to bring my animal even though I have no one else in my room. It is a big struggle since they think I will be fine since “everyone else has mental issues in college”.

I have a emotional support leopard gecko he helps me with my anxiety and stress, because he lives so long (20+ years) she will come to college with me!

Is this only applicable in the USA or is it the UK too?? Because I have guinea pigs and the university is a little distant to this idea. I just want to know if i can use this website as a relevant source of proof that i am allowed them

My daughter is getting an ESA (cat) for autism and co-morbid anxiety and depression. She has permission from her University dorm, but her room is tiny (really tiny). Can cats live in a tiny dorm room?

In reply to Richards. As long as you have a legitimate ESA letter from a licensed health professional, your college must provide reasonable accommodations for you and your ESA.

I just received my ESA Letter from United States Support Animals. My college has to honor this correct? It cannot deny me the right of having my cat in the dorm?
